Microneedling: A Beauty Must Have

Have you looked in the mirror lately and seen those fine lines increasing? Or those fine lines grow deeper? Do you look back at old photos and realise how old you have become? Does your skin look dull? Are the moisturisers, oils, serums and scrubs not working?

We have the answer for you! No costly face lift needed. Microneedling is a beauty must have.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is a procedure that uses fine needles to puncture the skin and create a controlled skin injury in order to rejuvenate skin. It’s also called skin needling, Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT) and Percutaneous Collagen Induction (PCI).

Used by Hollywood celebrities – Jennifer Aniston, Kim Kardashian, Demi Moore, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, to name a few.

Why you need microneedling?

Collagen is the largest and most abundant protein in our body, and it is a key building block for everything, from the connective tissues of our vital organs, joints, ligaments and tendons to our hair, nails and the dermis layer of our skin. It functions much like the frame of a house: it provides support for everything, both inside and out. Without the frame, our house gets cracks and falls down.

The dermis layer is made up of more than 70% collagen. There are 28 types of collagen. The collagen in our dermis is 80% Type I and 10% Type III. Type I and III collagen are the key building foundation for youthful flawless skin. We are born with an abundant supply of collagen. As a baby, our skin is plump, firm, smooth and rosy in colour – thanks to all of that collagen in our dermis.

Unfortunately, our body stops producing collagen in our mid to late 20's. Then, around age 30, our collagen levels begin a long, unyielding decline – right around the time those first fine lines and wrinkles appear on our faces. After age 30, our collagen level drops 1%-2% every year. By age 40, we have lost 10%-20% of our collagen. By 50, we are down 20%-40%. By the time we hit 60 – well, you get the picture. And it isn’t pretty.

How does Microneedling treament work?

Our trained somatologists perform a skin assessment while discussing your skin care concerns. Accordingly, appropriate needles are selected. Numbing creams are applied to help reduce pain or discomfort. Remember, you can microneedle your body too!

Tiny needles poke the top layer of your skin, creating channels in the dermis which sufficiently stimulate the body’s natural mechanisms to produce and deliver concentrated amounts of collagen and proteins to the treated areas of skin whilst also allowing deeper penetration of products applied.

Cost of the treatments range from R850 – R1 200. However, we want our clients to benefit from the amazing results of this microneedling treatment, so you can book your first microneedle spa treatment with us for only R 700. Maintenance of the procedure is essential, so talk to our staff about our loyalty programme.
